I don’t know what Gene Taylor could possibly be thinking to go on WLOX after returning from a fly-over Saturday and flip-flop like this. On Friday, April 30th – just the day before his appearance on WLOX News – Gene Taylor called the oil spill “…a crisis threatening the Gulf Coast.”

Just as a side-note to the “chocolate milk” incident in the gulf… After a $4 jump in Tidewater Inc’s stock since the oil spill, Gene Taylor’s brother and CEO of Tidewater Inc, Dean Taylor, sold-off 15,000 shares of his company’s stock (TDW) at $54.95/share (15,000 x $54.95 = $824,250) on Friday April 30th before the stock dropped back down to $51/share (15,000 x $51 = $765,000) ($824,250 – $765,000 = $59,250) at the time of this writing.

Tidewater, Inc has provided services to the offshore drilling industry for decades, but the company only donated to Gene Taylor for the first time in 2002 – the same year Dean Taylor became President and CEO of the company – and has donated $5,000 to Gene Taylor in 4 out of the 5 election cycles since then.

But all of this is really just a lot of side-notes. Really.

Anyone seen Gene Taylor lately? He hasn’t held a Townhall meeting since he was in Ellisville on March 1st – nearly 2 months ago!

Maybe it’s because he’s spent the last several months – even up to the final days of the healthcare debate – assuring his constituents in South Mississippi that the healthcare legislation would NOT become law… but it did.

Gene Taylor spent the first few minutes in Ellisville, on March 1st, discussing his theory on why the healthcare legislation would NOT become law. But the fact is – Gene Taylor voted for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and Pelosi passes what Pelosi wants to pass.

Maybe if Gene Taylor had spent more time doing his job representing us and attending congressional healthcare discussions instead of shaking a leg at rock concerts, he might have had a better understanding of what was going on in Congress and he wouldn’t have mislead his constituents.

“Gene Taylor’s ongoing support for his party’s reckless leadership has paved the way for high unemployment, government-run healthcare, and an exploding deficit that has buried Southeast Mississippi families under a mountain of big government and massive debt. Now, Taylor’s own party is on the attack against his support for policies they say will send jobs overseas. Are you starting to understand why Gene Taylor votes yes to Federal Hate Crimes Legislation when it’s included in a Defense Spending Bill that includes various ship contracts for Mississippi ship yards?

As usual, Gene Taylor dances around for a minute, and never really gives a direct answer to the lady’s direct question.

Last Tuesday night House Democrats met with Senate Democrats to discuss the Health Care Bill. It would seem to me like the perfect opportunity for Gene Taylor to convey the frustration of his constituents… maybe even stomp his feet and raise a little hell on our behalf?

So, where was Congressman Gene Taylor during this meeting – laying out his argument against it? Possibly trying to convince a few Democrats to vote no?

Heck no! WAR’s in town on their “The Family Stone” tour and Gene Taylor has tickets!

Our Congressman was spotted skipping out on the Health Care discussion between House Democrats and Senate Democrats to go shake his leg at a WAR concert. Where are his priorities? Not in Mississippi.

Discouraged House Democrats are meeting to discuss health care negotiations with the Senate. But at least two members will be absent from that meeting.

As members left the House chamber for the first and last vote of the day to bring in the second session of the 111th Congress, I chatted with Representative David Wu (D-OR) about the unimportant issue of brutally long plane flights.  (I just took one last month.)

As we spoke, out walked a casually dressed Representative Gene Taylor (D- Miss).  He and Rep. Wu had plans to see WAR, the legendary long-running funk band most popular in the 1970s, at the Birchmere in Northern Virginia this evening.  Rep. Wu told me about their plans and Rep. Taylor chimed in. Taylor said he would rather go see WAR than go to a Democratic Caucus meeting “to be persuaded to vote for a bill I’m not going to support.”

Gene Taylor has no intention of fighting against ObamaCare on our behalf. He’ll simply vote “no” and watch his own party shove it down our throat. We need a fighter to represent us in Washington – sitting quietly in the corner is no longer enough.

Mr. Taylor, you are our elected member of Congress responsible for making things such as this happen. If you see a problem with our excess equipment not coming home, I would suggest that you do something about it.

Lest you forget, you were elected to the Congress from the 4th District of Mississippi to do a job. Don’t come to these pages and whine about it not being done; unless you are admitting to your failure in the completion of your sworn duties.

Go to Nancy and demand that she do something about it. Tell her what you want and she may bless you with it while she decides which way you should vote.

What was the response from the Committee? Did you get one? Was it satisfactory to you? What did you do about it? What are you going to do about it now?

When you fail to get your response, then go to the liberal press and demand that action be taken and start a public fight if getting the equipment home is important. The Senate has proven that Blue Dog Democrats are just democrats looking for a deal. Demand that you get your deal. Demand that you be heard.

In other words, Mr. Taylor, and I write this with limited respect, do your job and get this taken care of now. You asked me to vote for you to take care of Mississippi and this country and I did, but if this is how you propose to do your job then please don’t ask for my vote again.

Do you really wonder why the American citizen wants to fire every last one of you? Get off your Congressional seat and make something happen.

Why Not? A quick down vote on the bill until the Hate Crimes Bill was struck out of it would only have taken a few days, much less time than President Obama needs to take the advice of his appointed Generals.

Doing this would have prevented the Hate Crimes Bill which is just bad law from being passed. We have enough laws in place to protect our citizens and the leeway for our judges to impose a wide range of sentences for offenders. It was too bad the Hate Crimes Bill didn’t address the molestation of a child to be more than a suspended sentence or 60 days in jail. Did you explain to Princess Nancy that this law violates the “equal protection” clause of the Constitution? I know you are a back room guy and that’s how you admitted you got things done. We are front door folks.

I submit that the defense bill could have passed without missing a beat and you could actually be proud of doing something for your constituents.

I asked you to personally introduce a law that would create a single topic restriction to any law being introduced. All I and the others at the event heard from you was that it was just too hard to do and it wouldn’t pass anyway.

I ask you again to stand before Congress and introduce and demand the passing of a Single Topic Bill. No bill will be attached to another bill unless both bills address the same topic. I also ask you to introduce a bill that would require the Constitutionality of any Bill be reviewed prior to the bill leaving committee.

I will ask this of each candidate that runs for your seat. I’ll let you know if you have a competitor who will “Man Up” and represent the entire 4th District.

The Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act will extend the definition of federal hate crimes and create additional penalties for violent crimes motivated by the victim’s “actual or perceived” gender, “gender identity,” sexual orientation, or disability.

In other words, a crime isn’t just a crime anymore.  The punishment is now determined on what the court decides the perpetrator was thinking at the time  of the crime. I’m not sure what method will be used to look at a person’s thoughts and determine whether or not that person “perceives” another person’s gender”. Sounds like a slippery slope to me.

HR 2647, The Defense Authorization Bill, didn’t originally include the Hate Crimes language. Back in June, the House passed HR 2647 with a vote of 389 YES and 22 NO (Roll# 460).

It was then sent to the Senate where the “Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act” was added and sent back to the House for a vote. The House voted to pass the Defense Authorization Act, including the “Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act” with a vote of 291 YES and 146 NO (Roll #770).

Although 120 members of Congress had the courage to stand firm and stay consistent against Hate Crimes legislation being inserted into a Defense spending bill, Gene Taylor did not. When it came down to it, Gene Taylor voted in favor of HR 2647 saying he was not going to vote against it because the Hate Crimes Act, “…is only a small part of this bill.”

While it’s true that the number of pages that the Hate Crimes Act takes up in the overall bill may be small, it’s actual language is a HUGE step towards infringing on our Constitutional right to free speech and freedom of religion and lays the groundwork to similar legislation that has been enacted in Europe.

Hate crimes legislation is already being used in parts of Europe and Canada to punish Christians who “offend” others by speaking openly and publicly about their Christian values. Even in Pennsylvania 11 Christians were arrested under similar state legislation for simply passing out flyers and reading the Bible at a Gay pride parade in 2004.

The Hate Crimes language in HR 2647, that Gene Taylor voted for, hands out federal money to states and local governments in pursuit of “preventing” hate crimes. It creates federal protections and privileges for homosexuals and other alternative lifestyles but denies those protections to other groups of citizens.

In essence it removes the blindfold from lady justice and creates a higher and lower class of citizens in the eyes of the law and the punishment handed down. Even U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder admitted that a homosexual activist who is attacked following a Christian minister’s sermon about homosexuality would be protected by the proposed federal law, but a minister attacked by a homosexual wouldn’t be.

Does this represent you south Mississippi? Is 20 years enough – or should we give Gene Taylor another term? How will you vote in 2010 to make sure that we have someone fighting for us in Washington DC?

Included in this bill, along with the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, was language that allows the US Military to pay Taliban fighters in Afghanistan not to fight against the Afghan government.

I know that Gene Taylor is a strong supporter of our military, so I’m not sure what he was thinking on this one. Maybe he thinks “radical Islamic terrorists” aren’t so radically into this Jihad against us, “the great Satan”, that they can’t be bought off for a few bucks. Or maybe he just missed this language in the bill. I don’t know.

The language that diverts your tax dollars to pay the Taliban fighters to “stop” fighting is contained in HR 2647, Section 1222 (d)

So we go to war and use American tax-payers’ money to pay the opposition to lay down their arms? What makes Gene Taylor think this money won’t go toward funding the Taliban’s fight against our Military? How long will we  If they do simply lay down their arms and stop fighting, what happens when the money runs out?

It’s outrageous to know that my tax-dollars are going into the pockets of Taliban fighters and could possibly be used to buy hard bullets for soft American bodies!

Our paid representative to Congress has again disappeared and to my knowledge made no attempt to associate himself with the real conservatives that he claims to be and represent.

Every day he has a chance to do something to show his loyalty to his adopted Mississippi home, and every day he gets more in line with Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank.

I guess when you are born and raised in New Orleans and then spend 20 years in Washington that you forget just who you represent.

I guess he thinks his district surrounds the ship yard and that’s it.

We just need to follow the money.

Chris McDaniel, Tom King and Kerry Tegerdine did take the time to speak at the Hattiesburg rally and all did a great job. Chris McDaniel has proven his conservative values over and over again and Kerry gave a great speech supporting American values.

Senator King gave a great speech. I only hope that he goes back to the Republican Party and gives it to them.
The Republicans need to remember the values that they claim to have ownership of only to let slide since the Reagan years.

If it wasn’t for tax and spend Republicans and the lies they have told to the American people they would not have lost power.

Republicans need to decide who they are before they ask us to believe them. Republicans should not make the mistake of taking the self destruction of the Democratic Party as a mandate for Republicans. That would be a very grave mistake for you and for our country.

Bring us candidates we can believe in and who support the Constitution with their whole being and we will put all our support behind them.

Here is a hint. Joe Tegerdine = Yes. Thad “Don’t turn down the Pork” Cochran = No.

Gene Taylor, Travis Childers, Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker are proud of Mississippi being a welfare state; we are not.

The right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children has been recognized and upheld for centuries. But the tide is turning in our nation.

Today, parental rights are coming under assault from judges who deny or refuse to recognize parental rights. Adding further danger to the child-parent relationship, international law which seeks to undermine the parental role is advancing on the horizon. Together, these threats are converging to create a “perfect storm” that looms over the child-parent relationship.

The only solution to the approaching attack on the child-parent relationship is a constitutional amendment securing the rights of parents to raise their children. Only a constitutional amendment will ensure that federal judges protect the fundamental right of parents to raise their children. And only a constitutional amendment will override international law that seeks to undermine the parental role.

The Senate will likely begin to consider ratification of this international treaty in early 2009. If ratified, the UN-CRC would radically alter the flow of power in the United States, taking away the authority of parents to decide matters pertaining to the lives of their children, and giving that power away to the United Nations. An 18-member international panel would decide what is best for American children and, hence, for America’s future.

This resolution is in the first step in the legislative process. Introduced bills and resolutions first go to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate. The majority of bills and resolutions never make it out of committee. If this joint resolution proposes an amendment to the Constitution, three-fourths of the states must ratify the proposal. A joint resolution, if not amending the constitution, may also be signed into law by the president.

In  “GOP Favors Public Option for Property, Not People” – David Johnston accurately describes the hypocrisy of many Republicans as they attempt to legislate  a single payer system when it comes to property….

Lott introduced Senate Bill 1936, which would have authorized retroactive flood insurance. The idea came from Representative Gene Taylor, a Democrat who represented the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which should remind us that when there is voter demand for reform, and campaign contributions are not the driving force, the parties have worked together.

Lott’s bill would have let flood victims pay 10 years of flood insurance premiums after-the-fact plus a 5 percent late payment penalty. Since this storm was rated a once in 500 years occurrence, even 10 years of premiums would not come close to covering the real costs, meaning a taxpayer subsidy was built into the Lott bill.

Johnston hits the nail on the head with the dilemma facing conservatives of Mississippi’s 4th Congressional District. Socialism is bad for those poor folks who can’t seem to save a cent for healthcare… but when it comes to our expensive beach properties on the gulf coast… well…. we need a single payer system.

Gene Taylor says he’s against universal healthcare because it cannot be funded… but has no problem EXPANDING the dismal National Flood Insurance Program…to take care of rich folks.

Not surprisingly the NFIP is just another bankrupt basket of red ink on our nations budget… but does that stop Gene Taylor from pushing to get wind coverage added to the NFIP?

Nope… bankrupt federal program or not… Taylor aims to take care of that money on the coast…

How Gene continues to get elected despite maintaining such a low profile on the House floor is starting to become quite clear.

A single payer federally subsidized system is fine for Taylor’s buddies who live in mansions on the coast… but for the little people who aren’t capable of paying for their healthcare….

Well it seems Taylor can’t be all things to all people at all times…
