The NRA is funding Gene Taylor’s re-election campaign!!

In the 2008 election the National Rifle Association donated $2,000 towards Gene Taylor’s re-election. For the upcoming 2010 election the NRA has already donated $1,000. You can view the donation at congress.org by clicking here.

Do you believe it’s in the best interests of Mississippi gun-owners to have their hard earned dollars contributed to a candidate who has twice voted for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House? The NRA gives Nancy Pelosi a grade of “F” when it comes to preserving our rights under the 2nd Amendment. Meanwhile our own funds are going to re-elect a candidate who votes to support Pelosi.

If you are disappointed by these contributions by the NRA, please contact Jamison Jones. Jamison is our 4th District NRA Coordinator. You can reach him by email at 1NRApatriot@gmail.com or by phone at (228)990-9105.

  1. The NRA should change the way they select candidates to fund and endorse. They simply look at how the candidate votes on gun rights legislation.

That doesn’t help most Americans who, like us, live in rural, pro-gun rights areas of the country. No candidate will be taken seriously in our district if he/she isn’t a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment so it almost becomes as irrelevant as the abortion issue. And Gene’s not as strong of a supporter of the 2nd Amendment as he claims to be.

One problem, for example, is the fact that pro-gun legislation can never make it onto the House floor if the Speaker doesn’t support it. On the other hand, if a piece of legislation threatens to further infringe on our 2nd Amendment right, the Speaker can rally support behind it and bring it to a vote. The same goes when legislation is in Committee. It may or may not see the light of day depending on the Chairman’s own ideology. It’s a one-way street.

Gene Taylor and the rest of Congress ought to be graded according to their vote for Speaker of the House and all Committee Chairman positions that deal with gun rights legislation as well as their own personal voting record.

That said, I’m a proud member of the NRA. :)

  2. Yes, the NRA says “Vote Freedom First”. Perhaps they should consider their slogan before spending my dues to give to candidates.

  3. I feel the NRA is failing to investigate the activities and political agends of those they are sending suport to. Taylor Fails to meet qualifacations to earn a bennifit from the NRA.

  4. I can’t believe that the NRA would support a liberal at this time in history. Gene Taylor did vote no on this anti America Health Care Bill. But how many of you know that he vote on a Health care Bill before this one. The Bill was to kill the health care bill before it got to the floor. Gene Taylor vote to let it go through. As most liberals he wants it both ways. He also has an 84@ voting record with his party. He has a 5% missed vote. The means he cross over 11% of the time. If you think that makes him a Conv. you are a liberal yourself.
